Railway development
I welcomed the government's decision in proceeding with the Kowloon Southern
Link (KSL). In late September, the government invited the Kowloon-Canton Railway
Corporation to proceed with the detailed planning and design of the KSL. It
extends the West Rail from Nan Cheong Station to Hung Hom via West Kowloon and
Tsim Sha Tsui. The project is expected to create about 3,000 job opportunities
at peak times during construction in the next few years. Meanwhile, more jobs
are going to hit the market with the commencement of the construction of Lok Ma
Chau Spur Line.
Lately, the debate on the merger of the MTR Corporation and the KCRC
is heating up again. What is your view on the issue? Please send me your
opinions either by fax to 2570 5838 or by e-mail to
rctho@capitalchina.com.
